Committee members discussed installing an awning at the Day Reporting entrance to protect people arriving early for appointments from inclement weather. Administrative Coordinator Jason Matthys explained there is currently no shelter and the entrance was originally intended as an emergency egress; the proposed awning would come under allowed site-improvement uses for the project.
Chairman Jon Aubart suggested a temporary measure such as a tent might serve in the near term, but staff cautioned that a tent would not withstand downpours or heavy wind. Matthys said staff will return with additional options for consideration; the committee took no action at this meeting.
The discussion clarified that the Day Reporting entrance functions as a program access point and that any shelter should be durable. Staff will evaluate awning designs, durability and timing relative to the broader construction schedule and report back at a future meeting.
