Will Marby, executive director of Cleveland Vocational Industries (CVI), presented an organizational overview and said CVI was incorporated in 1984 and opened in 1985. He said CVI’s mission is to provide training and employment opportunities for adults with barriers to employment, with a focus on intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Marby said CVI currently serves more than 70 training associates aged 21–85, employs about 45 full-time and 15 part-time staff, and operates Alley’s Café — a restaurant training site established in 2016 that provides hands-on experience in front-of-house and kitchen roles. He estimated that 3%–5% of the county population may be affected by such disabilities, equating to roughly 3,000–5,000 individuals in Cleveland County.
Commissioners thanked CVI for its work and the presentation; no Board action was requested.
