The Mecklenburg County Planning Commission unanimously approved a special-exemption permit on Feb. 19 to allow The Towers, LLC to build a 199-foot monopole communication tower on Parcel 39988, approximately 3,706 feet south of the intersection with Route 721 (State Line Road). Applicant representative Anthony Bologna (William Mullen law firm) presented a PowerPoint indicating the tower height would be 199 feet including a 4-foot lightning rod and that the structure would have space for two additional carriers.
The Commission recorded its findings in the minutes, stating the tower would not be detrimental to public welfare, would not affect health or safety in the neighborhood, and would provide better cell service and internet connection to the area. The motion to approve passed unanimously.
