The Garfield County Planning Commission opened a public hearing on a zone-change request for a parcel in Escalante that Chair described as tied to trustee Linda Emansells. Caden, planning staff, told commissioners the applicant had not completed the required survey and recommended tabling the request until the subdivision lines were finalized: "my recommendation would be to table the decision until next meeting once the subdivision, you know, on survey had been completed." The commission closed the public hearing and voted to table the item to the next meeting.
Caden explained that because the survey is incomplete the parcel does not yet legally exist in the configuration sought, so staff could not recommend final approval. Caden added that tabling the decision would avoid re-running a public hearing once the survey is completed. With no public present to speak on the matter, the commission made a motion to table and the motion carried by voice vote. The item will return as an agenda item at the next planning commission meeting rather than as a new public hearing.
