Jackson County OKs matching funds for NG-911 PSAP grant to upgrade communications

At its Oct. 20 meeting the Jackson County Board of Supervisors approved Resolution No. 39-10-2025 authorizing the county’s FY2026 PSAP grant application for an NG-911 upgrade and agreeing to provide the required 10 percent cash match from the Ho-Chunk Reserve Fund Balance, not to exceed $41,751.50.
Supervisor Tom Cooper moved to adopt the resolution and Supervisor Sarah Peloquin seconded; the motion passed by voice vote with 19 present voting Aye. The resolution states the total proposed FY2026 PSAP project budget is $417,514.99 and that allowable cash match must be non-state or federal funds spent on eligible project costs. Sheriff Waldera was present at the meeting to answer questions about the scope and timeline of the upgrade.
The resolution lists eligible activities including upgrading NG-911 hardware and software, providing advanced telecommunicator training, enhancing PSAP operations, and project expenses to enable NG-911 services. The proposed project timeline begins upon grant award and must be completed no later than June 1, 2027; most implementation is expected in 2026. The board’s authorization directs that the county match come from the Ho-Chunk Reserve Fund Balance up to the stated cap.
