Council considers removing tracking of speaker counts from Rules of Council

Under Old Business the council discussed proposed edits to the Rules of Council. Chair Chris Westmark said she would like to remove the tracking of who speaks and how many times during meetings because the practice would be difficult and time-consuming to implement. Councilmember Nell/Neil Kelly agreed and Ms. Downs noted a typographical error in the draft rules.
City Solicitor Bryan E. Pacheco told council he would incorporate the suggested changes and present a revised draft at the next council meeting on Sept. 15. The discussion was procedural; no formal motion to adopt rule changes was made during the Aug. 18 meeting.
