Staff: SNAP assistance target cut to 200 under NCOA grant; county will seek continued funding

Director (speaker 8) told the board the National Council on Aging (NCOA) SNAP assistance contract revised the target for SNAP applications from 600 to 200, based on required survey data sharing and grantee adjustments. "Originally, our goal was to submit 600 applications, and our goal changed down to 200 applications," Director said, adding, "we're gonna meet the goal of the 200. We'll we're gonna soar past it."
Staff explained the NCOA SNAP grant ends at the end of the month and urged the board to support seeking funding to retain the dietitian and SNAP application assistance offered at mobile food pantries and rotating senior‑center locations. The board discussed outreach strategy and provider feedback that alternating locations rather than duplicate fairs will increase reach. The Director asked for formal inclusion of a funding‑seek objective in the plan and the motion that approved the plan included that instruction.
