Zion National Park Discovery Center: construction 'fully vertical'; ribbon cutting planned spring 2027

Debbie Lyon, with the Zion National Park Forever Project, gave the Kane County Redevelopment Agency an update on the Zion National Park Discovery Center, showing renderings, site photos and a phased timeline.
"From groundbreaking in 2024, the project has maintained on pace for construction. We've gone fully vertical. The vision is now realized. The building's fully dried in," Lyon said, noting recent photos of completed rockwork, roofing and interior progress. She described a six-phase landscaping plan timed to match building construction and said pathways, an underpass and connections to multiuse trails were installed as part of the site work.
Lyon said stakeholders including the state legislature, the Department of Outdoor Recreation and local partners have been engaged, that UDOT completed a roundabout and adjacent multiuse trail connections, and that a ribbon-cutting in spring 2027 is planned with the governor and other stakeholders invited. The project will include interpretive programming, rooftop gardens and a night-sky auditorium used for outdoor classrooms; oversized parking will be advanced in a later phase with outreach to industry partners for funding.
