Auditor reports drop in primary turnout and smaller MCIT dividend

Kit Johnson, Traverse County Auditor/Treasurer, distributed the county’s 2024 primary election results, reporting that 621 Traverse County residents voted in the primary versus 989 in 2022. Johnson attributed the figures to the county report distribution and recorded the numbers in the minutes.
Johnson also informed the Board that the county received an MCIT dividend of $13,660, which was below the $25,000 amount the county had budgeted. He noted that Social Services decreased its budget and reminded commissioners of a budget work session scheduled for Sept. 3 following the regular meeting.
