Main Street matching grants credited with sales gains; Outlaw's Barbecue seeks extra help after equipment failures

Jeff Chubb reported on a site visit to Nourish, where the owner had reorganized market and clinical space and added rentable clinic rooms. The board heard that Nourish had doubled rental income for those rooms and reported about a 20% increase in sales since implementing changes. The Chamber narrative highlighted 18 new members and a summer passport program with 58 stops.
Outlaw's Barbecue encountered equipment failures after winter; staff said the business received a partial payment of $1,500 against an authorized $10,000 grant and that the owner requested additional help to purchase a freezer/refrigerator combo and an ice machine. Staff estimated the owner might need roughly $2,000 more to complete repairs and said the board could consider allocating remaining RCG funds to assist if members agreed. Irene Hansen characterized Outlaw's as "the epitome of a small business" and supported discussion.
Staff indicated that Vengeance Power Sports, Higher Healing and Ross Quick Change still require county commission approval for previously approved grants and that staff will place at least one (Vengeance Power Sports) on the June 8 commission docket.
