Board approves $5,000 to support Green River business alliance training and outreach

The Emery County Economic Development Board voted to provide $5,000 to support the Green River Business Alliance’s training and outreach efforts, with the funds processed through the Emery County Business Chamber.

Dorothy Carter, representing the Green River Business Alliance, outlined a slate of activities including town halls, customer-service and entrepreneur trainings, a kids’ entrepreneur event planned for July 8, a senior health fair that drew about 50 attendees, and ongoing outreach to roughly 43–48 local businesses. Carter asked the board for funding to pay for promotional items and a better sound system so speakers can be heard by people in the back of meetings. "I would deeply appreciate your support in this," Carter said as she closed her presentation.

Board members debated whether the alliance duplicates the chamber’s work and whether funds should be routed through the chamber so Green River businesses feel included in county-wide programs. Lauren Huntsman moved to fund the request through the Emery County Business Chamber; Brock Johansson seconded. The motion passed by voice vote.

The board directed that the $5,000 be administered under the chamber’s fiscal umbrella so local Alliance efforts are recognized as part of broader county programming. Board members asked that Dorothy and Patsy Stoddard (Emery County Business Chamber) work out a brief proposal and budget for how the funds will be distributed and used.
