Highway Department to dispose of old Traverse Care Center van; annual report distributed

County Engineer Chad Gillespie and Highway Supervisor Brian Koch updated the Traverse County Commission on highway operations Sept. 3, 2024, and asked the board to approve disposal of the old Traverse Care Center van after a prior auction drew no bids. Commissioner Dwight Nelson moved to dispose of the vehicle and Commissioner Chad Metz seconded; the board approved the disposal 4-0.
Gillespie handed out the 2023 Highway Department Annual Report and reviewed payment history on ditch assessments and weed control. He said the department will complete the City of Wheaton disposal-site survey to meet MPCA requirements, and noted a minor update to the ditch-cleaning permit that will be revisited this winter. Project updates included CSAH 15, County Road 76 bridge work, and CSAH 4.
