Controller says tax-collection reconciliation fixes underway; expects resolution by year-end

Scott Ford and Matt Brady described repeated meetings with Information Systems (IS) to identify and implement fixes to the county's tax-collection fund reconciliation. Ford said the work has required extensive collaboration and whiteboarding but that he is "cautiously optimistic" fixes will be in place before the end of the calendar year so the next final settlement will show reconciled bank balances and matching distributions.
Committee members praised the collaboration between finance and IS, called the tax-collection reconciliation the committee's highest current risk, and asked the controller to pursue external verification after the remediation is complete. Ford also noted the county's system was demoed to the Utah Association of Counties as a model but cautioned that practical implementation challenges remain.
