Commission members reviewed a draft outreach article intended for local publication to increase awareness of the commission's work and to mark National Historic Preservation Month next spring.
Eve Parish said she had a draft on the whiteboard and suggested sending it to the paper soon. Commissioners discussed coordinating timing with town and county officials so the outreach would align with a broader message and not appear to be an independent action of the commission. Staff suggested presenting the idea at the next Town Council meeting during discussion or, if no agenda action is needed, raising it during public comment at the council meeting on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
The commission agreed on a plan to circulate an editable version of the draft, compile a coordinated list of planned activities for May, and have a representative speak at the council meeting so the outreach is presented as a coordinated effort with municipal leaders.
