Scott Ford, the controller, briefed the committee on fraud-and-ethics hotline activity, saying the office received multiple reports: four complaints about a patrol scheduling change that were processed and referred to HR, one personnel conduct complaint being addressed by the sheriff's office, and one submission the controller described as unintelligible. "We had 1 conflict of interest... we had 1 complaint that just had gibberish information," Ford told the committee.
On the petition-related allegation, Ford said the complainant had received a flyer and a pre-addressed signature-removal form from Better Boundaries and mistakenly believed it came from the clerk's office. After reviewing the mailing and the submitted letter, the controller said the committee concluded the allegation of government interference was unsubstantiated and no further audit work was required.
