Health agent reports Summercamp cesspool abatements; regulation work delayed until fall

Alexa Arieta updated the board on field work at Summercamp, reporting that contractor Matt Parker and the Fire Department located seven cesspools, a distribution box and a large holding tank in the front portion of the site; "Everything has been pumped, crushed and backfilled," the minutes record. Arieta said there are an estimated five additional cesspools in the rear, two of which are under the parking lot, and that abandonment of the remaining features will resume in the fall to avoid disrupting homeowners and summer visitors.
Arieta said the topic of evaluating alternative onsite systems and drafting a new regulation is significant and must be handled on the public agenda; she cautioned that "we can't have this discussion when it's not on the agenda" and recommended placing regulation work on a fall agenda when fieldwork eases. Board member Tom Zinno echoed concerns about timing and the difficulty of pursuing major regulation changes during the busy season.
Dr. Butterick moved to adjourn and Mr. Zinno seconded; the board voted "all in favor." The minutes note that Lorna Welch prepared the meeting minutes. The Health Agent will resume cessation work in the fall and return with any regulatory proposals at a properly noticed meeting.
