Council approves multiple board appointments, selects Terry George as Council Chair/Mayor Pro Tempore

At its Jan. 27 meeting, the council moved through several governance items and appointments. Council Member Jensen was appointed as Magna's representative to the Greater Salt Lake Municipal Services District Board of Trustees (Resolution R2026-03). The council combined two positions and, after ballots counted by the city recorder, announced Council Member Terry George would serve as City Council Chair/Mayor Pro Tempore.
Council approved Resolution R2026-04 appointing Mayor Mick Sudbury as Magna’s representative to the Unified Fire Authority (UFA) and Unified Fire Service Area (UFSA) Boards, and later approved R2026-06 appointing Mayor Sudbury as the city's representative to the Wasatch Front Waste and Recycling District (WFWRD). Council Member Audrey Pierce was appointed to the Magna Mosquito Abatement District Board (R2026-07) and Council Member Terry George was appointed to the Salt Lake County Animal Services Board (R2026-08). Several votes were unanimous; one procedural vote to name an alternate MSD representative (Mayor Sudbury) passed 4-1 with Council Member Pierce recording the lone "No."
