Magna CRA designates Broadway project area to enable property transactions; resolution approved 5-0
Summary
The Magna City Community Reinvestment Agency approved Resolution R2026-01 on Jan. 27, 2026 to designate the Broadway Community Reinvestment Project Area, a step staff says will allow the agency greater flexibility to hold or dispose of a church-owned parcel and an adjacent county parcel.

The Magna City Community Reinvestment Agency voted unanimously, 5-0, on Jan. 27, 2026 to approve Resolution R2026-01, designating the Broadway Community Reinvestment Project Area. Dan Torres, a city staff member, told the board the designation was prompted by the city's consideration of purchasing a church-owned parcel on Broadway and by the presence of an adjacent Salt Lake County parcel that may be transferred to the city or CRA.
Adam Long, serving as the agency attorney, said the formal project-area designation is primarily a statutory compliance document that enables the CRA to hold property, enter development agreements, and dispose of property in ways the municipality alone cannot. Long told the board the designation does not itself commit the county to transfer land and does not bind the CRA to any particular future sale or development. The public hearing on the draft plan was opened and closed by board motion before the resolution vote.
