Unified Police reports 1,337 calls in December; chiefs welcome new council

Lieutenant Chris Benedict presented December call and citation data for the Unified Police Department, reporting that the department responded to "1,337 total calls for service. Of those calls, 451 resulted in long-form reports." He also reported officers issued 363 civil citations, 186 criminal citations and eight DUI arrests during the month.
Chiefs Del Craig and Jason Mazuran both congratulated Mayor Mick Sudbury and the newly seated council members and said the department looked forward to continuing public-safety work in Magna. Chief Mazuran noted Magna was where he began his law-enforcement career and offered departmental assistance to the mayor and council going forward.
Council members had no substantive follow-up questions recorded during the presentation. The report will be available in the council packet for reference and budget planning.
