City approves manhole repair plan and temporary call-back pay minimums for maintenance

The Montrose City Council authorized work to repair a manhole seal failure and approved a temporary change to call-back pay for maintenance staff at the June 9 meeting. Maintenance Hanisch reported that Halme, through DGR Engineering, proposed a Uni-band sealing system (rubber seal with foam backing and stainless steel bands) to replace failed manhole seals; Hanisch instructed DGR to proceed with the proposal.
The council also approved a temporary departure from the employee handbook and set a minimum paid call-back of two hours for summer and four hours for winter for Maintenance Hanisch (Action 26-072). Council discussed that light snow removal can take 1–2 hours and heavier events 3–4 hours, and noted emergency call-ins can include water leaks, sewer backups and pool issues.
