Montrose council approves water hookup for parcel #08.22.4002 outside city limits

The Montrose City Council on Nov. 11 voted to allow city water service to parcel #08.22.4002, a property north of town, after citizen Jenna Duxbury requested service to build a residence there. Finance Officer Nicole Siemonsma told the council Montrose holds water rights up to three miles outside city limits and that Kingbrook Rural Water and DGR engineering had been consulted.
Council approved the measure under Action 25-149 with a unanimous roll call. Siemonsma said the applicant was informed by email of the water tapping fee, the water meter fee, the outside-city-limit water usage fee and the required water deposit. DGR engineering recommended considering a 6-inch water main if additional development is expected to the north, the council noted.
Next steps: the council approved service "for a monthly fee in accordance with the current water rates per rate resolution," and the finance office will coordinate fees, infrastructure planning and any required contractor bids.
