Council accepts TRCC grant for pickleball courts, will explore adding courts at Copper Park

Staff presented a TRCC (county recreation) grant application for pickleball courts at Neighborhood Park and explained that the county is restrictive about changing an approved project. Planning staff and a long‑range planner explained TRCC rules and past projects funded by the program. The council moved to accept the interlocal agreement and pursue additional cost estimates to add courts at Copper Park if feasible.
Planner Matt Starley said the TRCC program is competitive and each city may have up to three open applications at once; staff noted other opportunities (a dog‑park relocation and park improvements) they are exploring for the remaining grant slots. The resolution to approve the interlocal agreement was adopted by council vote.
