Council sets new meeting schedule, hears updates on sidewalk project and UCVFD demo request

Council agreed to change regular meeting days to the first and third Monday of each month at 6:30 PM beginning in September; the next meeting after Aug. 27 will be Sept. 16 due to Labor Day. The scheduling change was discussed and adopted to cover September through April 2025.
Borough Manager Cindy Wells reported that the TA Set-Aside sidewalk project is still in progress. She also relayed a request from the Union City Volunteer Fire Department to use a backhoe to demolish a shed at 10 Market Street; Public Works will assist with the demolition but will not operate a backhoe, per Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips. Erie County Planning’s Devereaux Day kickoff for French Creek park and trail improvements is scheduled for Sept. 13, 2024 at 11 a.m.
