Board approves expulsions for three students, sets conditional plans for one case

One Monache High School student was expelled for the remainder of the fall and spring semesters for the 2025–26 school year and will be transferred to Vine Community Day School. For Porterville High School, one student’s previous action was amended to allow Independent Study through Butterfield Charter School pending Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) placement; if the student is not accepted or not in compliance by Nov. 26, 2025, the district will transfer that student to Vine Community Day School. The second Porterville High student was expelled for the remainder of 2025–26 with a suspended expulsion, assignment to the PASS program, and then transfer to Citrus High School for the remainder of the school year under a Suspended Expulsion Contract.
The motion to approve the expulsions was moved by Pete Lara and seconded by Felipe Martinez and carried with all five trustees present voting aye. The minutes record the actions and conditional timelines (notably the Nov. 26, 2025 compliance deadline for the Independent Study option).
