Town considers replacing Old Brick Schoolhouse weathervane; fundraising plan draws opposition
Summary
Selectmen discussed replacing an irreparably damaged weathervane on the Old Brick Schoolhouse and asked local craftsmen for estimates; a resident, G. Peery, opposes fundraising at Old Home Day because the Fire Department will already be raising money by selling food.

The board discussed replacing the weathervane on the cupola above the Old Brick Schoolhouse after members described the old vane as "in extremely poor condition" and possibly beyond restoration. Brenna said the board would ask B. Dunn, T. McEachern and R. Germeroth to offer opinions and possibly craft a replacement, but that an estimate of the cost is needed before further action.
Brenna reported that "G. Peery is opposed to fundraising for the project at Old Home Day as the Fire Department is already raising money through food sales." The board agreed to seek cost estimates and community input before moving forward, noting fundraising and event scheduling implications.
