Panel approves limits on long-term mooring at reservoirs

Chair Lady Littleton presented HB1786, an amended bill restricting the mooring of recreational vessels along reservoir shores. The bill prohibits mooring for more than 14 consecutive days, bars temporary moorage within primary or secondary navigation channels of the Tennessee River system and forbids mooring that blocks or hinders boating access. "As amended, this bill prohibits the operator of a recreational vessel from mooring the vessel for more than 14 consecutive days," the sponsor said.
Committee members asked questions and then voted; the clerk reported the bill passed to full committee with a roll call showing five ayes, one nay and one present not voting. The amendment was placed on the bill by unanimous voice vote prior to passage.
