CBO reports enrollment dip, bus parking arrangement and retirement option review

Operational updates and finance issues were discussed at the Jan. 13 board meeting. Assistant Superintendent Annette Blacklock reported district enrollment at 2,413 scholars, "down by 92 from last year but up from the beginning of the school year." Chief Business Official Martin Rodriguez said the district is exploring retirement options for certificated staff (noting the district does not qualify for the "Golden Handshake" and is reviewing an option used in 2017).
Rodriguez also told trustees that starting this month Richland School District buses will park in the City of Shafter yard at no cost while construction begins on a charging station for the election buses. He reported there were no updates on the Wonderful development.
