Police reactivates Facebook page; fire and public works report operational updates

In department reports on Nov. 17, Police Chief Melcher told the Colfax City Council the department’s Facebook page is active again after six years and said two candidates for an entry-level officer position have been interviewed and will submit background packets for investigation.
OIC John Lautenslager of the fire department said more police than fire volunteers were present at a recent Trick-or-Treat Main event and described ongoing coordination with administration on operational items. Public Works/Hammer said Christmas decorating would begin the next day and reported staff activity related to the water project bid opening and other routine items. Finance Amanda Link said staff is finishing the pool project and is working to obtain reimbursements.
Council thanked staff for their work; these department updates were presented as informational and did not result in formal council action during the meeting.
