Board signs on to zero-emission bus grant and approves major facilities contracts

Chief Business Official Martin Rodriguez presented Resolution No. 2024-15 authorizing the district to apply for the Zero Emission School Bus and Infrastructure (ZESBI) Incentive Grant under Senate Bill 114 and Proposition 98 funding administered by the California Air Resources Board and California Energy Commission; if awarded, the district intends to purchase up to seven electric school buses. The board approved the resolution by roll-call vote, 5–0. Mr. Rodriguez also presented Resolution No. 2024-16 finding the proposed Sequoia Elementary TK/K special-needs classroom building additions (eight classrooms) exempt from CEQA under CEQA Guidelines §15314 and authorized filing a Notice of Exemption; the board approved by roll-call.
On facilities, the board approved a contract with KYA Services LLC to install five kindergarten playground structures and replace turf in three play areas at Golden Oak Elementary for $806,328.73 (funded from CFD Fund 52). The board also approved Change Order #1 for the Expanded Learning Opportunities multipurpose building (36' x 107')—a $949,500 change order funded entirely by the Expanded Learning Opportunities Grant. Trustees voted unanimously on these items. Implementation will be managed by the Business Services and Maintenance departments.
