Board awards $11.1 million contract to build eight classrooms at Sequoia Elementary

Chief Business Official Martin Rodriguez told the board the project will be funded through the full-day TK facilities grant program, the community facilities district bond and district funds (Fund 25 and Fund 52). The board authorized district administration to accept bids and execute contracts with Kya Services, LLC and necessary subcontractors; the motion passed unanimously. (SEG 006)
The board also heard a teacher request earlier in the meeting for classroom-design collaboration from Sequoia staff; Trustee Criswell later moved and the board approved the construction contract with the stated funding sources. Project stakeholders said the district will coordinate required architectural, electrical, HVAC and other trades as part of the contract package.
