Neodesha declares Fire Prevention Week; commission agrees to prepare bullying-prevention proclamations for October

Mayor Devin Johnson read a proclamation designating Oct. 5–11, 2025 as Fire Prevention Week with the theme “Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home.” The board also welcomed Jeannie Mahaffey, reached consensus to prepare proclamations for Mothers Against Bullying and National Bullying Prevention Month, and will present them in October.
Mayor Devin Johnson read a proclamation at the Sept. 24 meeting designating Oct. 5–11, 2025 as Fire Prevention Week and urging citizens to note the year’s theme: “Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home.” The board recorded the proclamation in the minutes; no vote was required for the reading.
Separately the Governing Body welcomed Jeannie Mahaffey for a discussion about proclamations recognizing Mothers Against Bullying and National Bullying Prevention Month. Following the discussion, the commission reached a consensus for staff to prepare and present the requested proclamations at the October meetings; the minutes note no final action was taken at the Sept. 24 session.
