Whitman Recovery Community Center outlines free peer-support services for four-county area

Megan Guido, director of the Whitman Recovery Community Center, told the council the center opened March 30, 2025, is affiliated with the Latah Recovery Center in Moscow, and is run by a small paid staff and roughly 20 volunteers. She framed the center as filling a regional gap in services across four counties for people dealing with opioid, substance use and mental health issues.
"Whitman Recovery Community offers free services, including one-on-one peer coaching, treatment resources and coordination, 12-step recovery groups, and community trainings, such as QPR and Mental Health First Aid," Guido said. She said the center provides services at no cost and is actively doing outreach to raise awareness in the region.
Councilmembers received the presentation as informational; no council action was taken. Guido asked the community to note the center as a resource and to share information about available trainings and peer-support offerings.
