District approves $71,628 materials procurement for Hesperia Farm outfall; in-house work expected to save $500,000

Field Operations Manager Nathan Porter asked the Board to approve procurement of materials from Winwater for the Hesperia Farm outfall pipeline upsize in the amount of $71,627.89. Porter told the Board that the Field Operations and Mechanical Maintenance departments will perform the installation in-house, which staff estimates will save ratepayers about $500,000 compared with hiring an external contractor.
Porter noted there may be a tariff increase of 4—68% affecting final material costs. Director Jacqueline Brown moved and Vice President Steve Boydston seconded approval of the procurement; the motion carried with AYES Ambrozic, Boydston, Brown, Wurm.
