Board approves $197,261 slip-lining contract for seven sewer locations to address infiltration

Engineering Manager Scott Schroder presented Slip Lining Project No. 266, a targeted set of repairs at seven locations to reduce inflow and infiltration and address root intrusion in older sewer mains. Schroder said the project is part of a broader wastewater capital program and is intended to ensure compliance with an existing State Water Resources Control Board cease-and-desist order.
Two bids were received; Insituform Technologies submitted the lowest responsive bid at $197,261 compared with an engineer's estimate of $190,000. Schroder and staff recommended awarding the contract with a 15% contingency ($29,589); project funds are in Wastewater CIP Fund 210 and the project is a component of a $1.5 million program. Vice President Steve Boydston moved to award the contract and Director Jacqueline Brown seconded; the motion carried (AYES: Ambrozic, Boydston, Brown, Wurm).
