Chairman Vaughn, speaking as sponsor, said House Bill 794 carries an amendment (16,775) the committee agreed to add and described the measure as "a compromise that has been reached" with the City of Memphis Public Works and the West Tennessee Home Builders to allow home builders to access existing sewers in Shelby County. He said the change aims to allow more homes to be developed in Shelby County.
Vice Chairman Bricken called for the vote after the amendment was adopted; the clerk reported "you have 20 ayes and 0 nays," and Bricken declared the bill passed and "goes on to finance." The sponsor noted the bill had been referred from state and local committee earlier in the process.
