Butte Valley board approves routine consent agenda and several new hires

The Butte Valley Unified School District governing board approved its consent agenda on Oct. 13, accepting minutes, warrant packets and a slate of employment appointments across certificated and classified positions. Superintendent Jared Pierce read the list of new hires, which included lead elementary teachers and activity advisors, and the board voted unanimously to accept the appointments.
Board members also approved purchases for recurring technology replacement under the district technology plan. Laine Johnson explained vendor selection and pricing for Chromebooks and said the student-device purchase will cost approximately $9,000 in fiscal year 2025–26 with about $6,000 in succeeding years. The board approved a parallel purchase of staff devices with the same projected costs. "We recommend the vendor based on price and support terms," Johnson said during the presentation.
The board recorded no public objections during the consent vote. President Shannon Struble and Vice President Heather Criss joined Clerk Chet Porterfield, Emanuel Mendoza and Jeffrey Heil in the recorded ayes. The approvals allow the district to proceed with onboarding and the scheduled technology replacements.
