City manager urges city-issued devices to reduce ransomware risk

Interim City Manager Tim Johnson told the council he is "concerned about ransomware and security" when members use personal electronic devices for official city business and recommended issuing city-owned laptops or tablets. City Recorder Leanne Steadman provided vendor estimates: roughly $1,200 per laptop and roughly $348 per iPad. Johnson said he will carry the recommendation forward during the upcoming budget process for council consideration. No formal decision was reached at the work session.
