Staff member Desiree explained the changes: "So in here, I submitted the planning department fee schedule for 2026." She said subdivision fees were reduced to be more consistent with nearby counties and to encourage local growth. Key changes recorded in the discussion included moving pre-application fees to $100, reducing preliminary-plat minor fees to $500 plus $25 per lot, and cutting major-plat fees to $1,525 plus $150 per lot; the board also added a noncompliance/after-the-fact review fee that doubles the standard review amount. During the motion, the chair noted, "Motion from John. 2nd from Cindy for approval of the January 6 meeting minutes," and later the board carried the motion to approve the fee schedule as amended.
The board asked staff to amend examining land surveyor fees to reflect private surveyor rates (minor $4.50; major $4.25 plus $15 per lot) and to remove an inapplicable zoning-text-amendment fee. Members discussed enforcement and monitoring challenges, particularly for leased or rented buildings and for post-construction noncompliance; staff said the goal was a lower fee structure to encourage correct permitting rather than after-the-fact fixes.
