Deputy County Manager Trisha Johnson reviewed a proposed administrative-code update to standardize and modernize Seminole County's boards and committees program. Topics included introducing consistent term limits, clarifying appointment processes (district appointments vs. at-large vs. staff recommendation with ratification), and membership requirements such as residency, background checks and voter-registration verification.
The board discussed options and agreed on several principles: reduce or eliminate rotational appointment complexity that can lead to uneven appointment timing; consider a five-seat standard with up to two at-large seats where appropriate; require county residency for appointees; explore background-check procedures; and direct staff to evaluate board value and meeting cadence and return with a proposed administrative-code revision. Commissioners also emphasized improved training for board liaisons and better Legistar publication of agendas and attendance.
