Heritage Pines approves cleanup plan for parcel 33, including tree removal and mulching

The Heritage Pines board approved a cleanup and mulching proposal for parcel 33 at its Dec. 10 meeting.
District Manager Chuck Adams presented the scope requested by Supervisor Carol Vaughan: perimeter cleanup, removal of dead trees and mulching. District Engineer Kurt Heath said there is a natural wetland in the center of the parcel and an excavated retention area on the western side; the south side is difficult to mow with equipment. The optional scope includes weed-whacker cleanup of a dry retention slope area, which Heath recommended though it does not impede drainage. On motion by Michael Walsh, seconded by Stephen Putman, the board approved the proposal including the optional scope "with all in favor." Adams said the invoice will be paid upon completion and Ms. Lonergan asked maps be provided to Supervisor Putman for follow-up.
Grounds Superintendent Tim Gatz later confirmed wood chips are free and additional mulching is planned in early spring; Mr. Gatz said he will inspect dwindling native grasses at Hole 2 and advise the board on replacements.
