Board adopts salary increases, bonuses and new classified starting rates

At its May 11 meeting the Winner School District 59-2 board approved multiple compensation actions affecting administrators, classified staff and the superintendent.
The board approved a 1.74% salary increase and $1,000 one-time bonus for administrators (Laura Root, Brian Naasz, Brett Gardner, Sarah Taggart and Kim DeMers) as recommended by Superintendent Stacy Halverson. The superintendent also received a 1.74% increase and a $1,000 bonus recommended by Board President Mike Calhoon. Classified staff received a 1.74% salary increase, an $80-per-month increase to health insurance contributions, and a one-time bonus of $1,000 for full-time employees and $500 for part-time employees; the motions carried as recorded in the minutes.
The board set 2026–2027 starting salaries for classified positions as follows: Classified Classroom Facilitator $22.90 per hour; Secretary $17.80 per hour; Paraprofessional $15.25 per hour; Daytime Custodian $17.80 per hour; Nighttime Custodian $18.80 per hour. These items were approved following motions recorded in the minutes and will inform payroll for the coming school year.
The district placed these compensation decisions alongside approval of the teacher negotiated agreement and other personnel actions during the same meeting.
