The select board reviewed correspondence from the town lister about a change in state guidance for telecom tax appeals and a stipulation filed by Vermont Telecom Wireless that would allow the company to proceed without a Board of Civil Authority hearing. The chair summarized the situation and said the tax department and the town attorney have reviewed the form. “So it sounds like we're just looking to get that signed just to kind of keep the ball moving and not getting stuck with the BCA,” the chair said when introducing the item.
After brief clarification that the board could either have the chair sign or authorize full‑board signatures (the board preferred signing by the whole board), a motion to sign the two stipulations regarding appeal to the Board of Civil Authority passed by voice vote. The board directed staff to execute the signed documents after the meeting and file them as required; no additional public hearing was scheduled by the town on the matter.
