Pleasant Grove staff and councilors said proposed legislation from Senator Keith Grover accelerated the reorganization timeline and contained language the cities want revised. City Attorney Tina Petersen said the four cities reviewed the bill and prepared a list of suggested edits to send to the senator.
Petersen told the Council that, per her conversations, Grover's stated intent was not to "make things more difficult or to favor anyone, but to alleviate some of the concerns." Council members emphasized they want to preserve the future School Board's ability to negotiate compensation for startup costs and to strike or revise language related to governing board structure and mandated distributions. Staff said they intend to submit the compiled list and continue intercity coordination.
