During the 4:30 p.m. work session, multiple department heads updated the Council on activity and upcoming work. Police Chief Keldon Brown reported recent multi-jurisdiction responses and the assistance provided by Flock cameras; he said a new officer will start Jan. 21, 2025, and additional staffing returns are expected by March 1. Library and Arts Director Sheri Britsch described a "Happy Noon Year" event that drew about 400 attendees and the new Free Puzzle Exchange offering approximately 40 puzzles for pickup or donation.
Public Works Director Neal Winterton reviewed infrastructure projects including Wade Springs rehabilitation and testing of the BLVD Well, which is being run intermittently to monitor aquifer reaction and turbidity; he also discussed a completed detention basin and interagency coordination on channels to the lake. Recreation Director Megan Zollinger said the Recreation Center is busy and previewed summer adaptive-sports activities and membership packet rollout.
