The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles granted several pardons at the July 28 meeting. Perry D. Weaver (AIS#807305) received a full pardon restoring all civil and political rights except firearm rights. Several other applicants received pardons with restrictions (relief from the habitual-offender act, firearms disabilities) or partial restorations such as voting rights only.
On one high-profile pardon application the board was not unanimous: Amanda M. Nichols (AIS#821742) applied for a full pardon. Board Members Gabrelle Simmons and Jennifer Conway voted to grant a full pardon; Board Chair Hal Nash voted to deny. The minutes record that the item divided the three-member board.
