Public Works outlines $6.5M road plan, water upgrades and citywide meter conversion

Public Works Director Neal Winterton presented a draft 2025 road rehabilitation plan and a prioritized project list that includes Murdock Drive, Windsong Drive, 1520 West, and other collector and neighborhood streets. Director Winterton said a lobbyist helped secure nearly $900,000 in road funding and staff estimate around $6.5 million in total road spending for 2025; some full roadway reconstructions remain contingent on coordinating utility replacements first.
Winterton also reviewed utility and water-system projects: about 6,000 of 7,500 new meters have been installed and meter work should finish by November 2025; the Boulevard Well passed the State inspection with an operating permit expected in about a month to provide 2,200 gallons per minute of redundancy; and a stormwater audit was recently conducted with results expected around Feb. 20, 2025. Staff noted a forthcoming PI and water rate study to conform to state legislation on block-rate structures.
