Winner School Board accepts resignations, approves multiple hires for 2026–27

The Winner School District 59-2 Board of Education on April 13 accepted resignations and approved multiple staffing actions for the 2026–2027 school year.
The board unanimously accepted the resignation of Molly Knutelski from her roles as a sixth-grade teacher and middle school Reading Olympics advisor and accepted the resignation of Lacey Wittmeier as a fourth-grade teacher. Motions approving those resignations passed 7-0. The board then approved offering a contract to Cassie Haakinson as the JAG Specialist and approved Shelby Sherard as a fourth-grade teacher, both on 7-0 votes (motions moved by Julie Manke and Lynnelle Anderson, respectively). The board also voted 7-0 to offer Bob Nelson the assistant high school track coach position and to offer a contract to Michael Tomjack as 5–12 band director and middle/high-school vocal director for 2026–2027.
The board also accepted the retirement notice of Jo Streifel, elementary physical education teacher, effective at the end of the 2025–2026 school year. Each personnel action was recorded as approved unanimously. These staffing votes follow a superintendent update listing several open positions districtwide, including elementary music, sixth grade, elementary PE, elementary special education, a speech-language pathologist, paraprofessionals and an out-of-school-time director.
