Members of FTC Team 8641, known as The Masters, presented their current robot to the City Council during the Feb. 4 work session and described the team’s design and competition plans. The students explained that the robot must meet an 18x18 inch size constraint and that this year's task involves picking up rectangular prism game elements to clip, hang or deposit into goals.
Team members said they regularly redesign the robot during the season, reuse parts due to limited funding, and hope to advance from local qualifiers to the state competition and potentially to FTC Worlds in Houston. Council members thanked the team and took photographs; Council Member Todd Williams asked about career paths for members and the students noted interests spanning business, mechanical engineering and computer science.
