Oak Park Community Garden honored; Council discusses student involvement

The Oak Park Community Garden received a certificate of commendation from Supervisor Jeff Gorell and the MAC discussed ways to expand student volunteer opportunities and community partnerships for the garden.
Volunteers from the Oak Park Community Garden presented the history and current operations of the garden at the Oct. 30 meeting. Council members thanked garden organizers for volunteer engagement and community education, and Oak Park High School representative Carter Licht suggested the garden coordinate with the high school to offer students community service hours.
Supervisor Jeff Gorell presented the garden with a certificate of commendation, and several MAC members commended the garden's Monarch Waystation event and educational outreach. The Council encouraged continued partnerships with schools and community groups and recorded the commendation as an item of appreciation.
