Council recognizes citizen intervention in robbery, introduces new city staff

At the Feb. 4 work session, Pleasant Grove introduced new prosecutor Stockton Vander Werff and administrative assistant Kim Griffin and Police Chief Keldon Brown presented a citizen recognition for Chelsea Young’s role in a robbery apprehension.
Pleasant Grove City leadership used the Feb. 4 work session to introduce new staff and recognize a citizen for public-spirited action. City Attorney Tina Petersen introduced Stockton Vander Werff as the City’s new prosecutor; Mr. Vander Werff said he is joining Pleasant Grove from Provo City and looks forward to continuing prosecutorial work.
Fire Chief Drew Engemann introduced Kim Griffin as the Fire Department’s new administrative assistant; Griffin has lived in Pleasant Grove about 20 years. Police Chief Keldon Brown recognized Chelsea Young for intervening during an attempted armed robbery at a Macey's on Nov. 19, 2024, recounting that officers located the suspect after Young closed a dumpster gate and encountered the individual. Chief Brown presented Young with a plaque and small gifts and thanked her for prioritizing patient safety at the nearby fertility clinic.
